    I have presented my works in FRANCE, US, SPAIN, and other international venues, with numerous exhibitions. They are collected by institutions, companies, and individuals engaged in various cultural fields. In addition, my works have been curated by Singulart Gallery (Paris, France) and included in the collections of corporations and discerning private collectors.

    The award ceremony was held on August 6, 2026, at The National Art Center, Tokyo.
    The award certificate was presented by the Vice President of the Salon d'Automne Association, who attended the ceremony from France.

    Publication Announcement: WHAT THE FOREST TAUGHT ME ABOUT GEOMETRY

    本書は、長年にわたる自然の観察と制作を通して考えてきたことを、作品、写真、言葉とともにまとめたアーティストブックです。
    森の木々や葉脈、光と影、音や振動。自然を観察していると、一見異なるものの中に、繰り返し現れる形や関係性があることに気づきます。
    枝分かれする樹木や葉脈、広がりと収縮、生成と変化。自然のかたちは静止したものではなく、さまざまな関係の中で絶えず変化し、循環しています。そして、観察を重ねるうちに、私の関心は、目に見える形そのものから、その形を生み出している目には見えない生命の構造へと向かうようになりました。
    本書では、フラクタルや幾何学的な構造、音や振動によって現れるパターンなどを手がかりに、目に見える世界と、その背後にある目には見えない構造との関係を辿ります。可視と不可視を切り離されたものとしてではなく、互いに関係しながら一つの世界を形づくるものとして捉えています。
    私の作品は、自然の姿をそのまま再現するものではありません。目に見える世界の背後にある構造を、どのように目に見えるものとして表すことができるのか。その探究の中で、幾何学は私にとって重要な言語となっていきました。
    こうした自然への観察と思考は、私の「幾何学刺繍＋墨アート」の制作へとつながっています。
    長く制作を続けている《Samsara Forest（サムサラの森）》や《Arachne（アラクネ）》をはじめとする作品とともに、それらの背景にある自然観察や制作についての思考を紹介しています。
    自然を見ることと、作品をつくること。
    その二つの間を行き来しながら辿り着いた、目に見える形と、その背後にある目には見えない生命の構造とのつながりを、一冊の本としてまとめました。

    This artist book brings together, through artworks, photographs, and words, the ideas that have developed through many years of observing nature and creating art.
    Trees and leaf veins, light and shadow, sound and vibration. In observing nature, I began to notice recurring forms and relationships within things that, at first glance, appear entirely different.
    The branching of trees and leaf veins, expansion and contraction, emergence and transformation. Forms in nature are not static; they are constantly changing and circulating through various relationships. As I continued to observe them, my attention gradually shifted from visible forms themselves toward the invisible structures of life that give rise to them.
    Taking fractals, geometric structures, and patterns that emerge through sound and vibration as points of departure, this book explores the relationship between the visible world and the invisible structures that lie behind it. Rather than treating the visible and the invisible as separate, I consider them as interconnected aspects that together form a single world.
    My work does not seek to reproduce nature as it appears. Instead, I explore how the structures behind the visible world might be made visible. Through this exploration, geometry has become an important language in my artistic practice.
    These observations of nature and the ideas that have emerged from them have led to my practice of Geometric Embroidery + Sumi Ink Art.
    Alongside works from my long-running Samsara Forest and Arachne series, among others, the book presents the observations of nature and the thinking behind my creative practice.

    Moving back and forth between these two practices, I came to see a connection between the forms we can see and the invisible structures of life that lie behind them. This book brings that journey together in a single volume.

  • 幾何学刺繡＋墨アート ─ 創作理念

    Geometric Embroidery + Sumi Ink Art — Art Philosophy

    五島アサミは、フランスでテキスタイルアートを学んだ後、日本のエンターテインメント空間や商業空間への作品制作を通して、空間とアートの関わりを探求してきました。そうした経験と試行錯誤を重ねる中で、幾何学刺繍と墨を融合させた独自の表現「幾何学刺繍＋墨アート」を創案しました。

    彼女の制作の根底にあるのは、「見えないものを見つめる」という一貫した視点です。刺繍による幾何学的な線の積層と、墨が広がり、滲み、変化していく動きを重ねながら、自然や生命の背後にある、目には見えない構造や循環、静かな秩序を探っています。

    その探求の重要な基盤となっているのが、自然の観察です。森の樹木の枝分かれや葉脈、植物の反復、鉱物の結晶などを観察する中で、そこに現れる構造と、アール・デコや曼荼羅などに見られる幾何的構造との共通性に着目するようになりました。異なる時代や文化の中で繰り返し現れる幾何学と、自然界に潜む秩序。その双方を見つめることから、幾何学を、目には見えない生命の働きを捉えるための造形言語として作品に取り入れています。

    近年は、音の振動が幾何学模様を生み出す現象であるサイマティクスにも関心を寄せています。音は目には見えませんが、振動によって物質に形を与えます。この現象もまた、幾何学を世界の見えない働きを読み取るための一つの言語として捉える、現在の制作へとつながっています。

    素材には、できる限り自然に近いものを選んでいます。オーガニックコットン、天然の絹糸、墨、岩絵具、金銀箔などを重ね、黒、白、金、銀、朱を基調とした画面の中に、糸と墨が静かに響き合う独自の表情を生み出しています。

    五島にとって「幾何学刺繍＋墨アート」は、形そのものを描くための技法ではありません。自然、生命、時間、光、音の背後で静かに結びついているものを見つめ、その気配に一つのかたちを与えるための試みです。

    After studying textile art in France, Asami GOTO explored the relationship between art and space through the creation of works for entertainment and commercial environments in Japan. Through this experience and continued experimentation, she developed her original practice, “Geometric Embroidery + Sumi Ink Art,” combining geometric embroidery with sumi ink.

    At the foundation of her practice is a consistent interest in perceiving what cannot be seen. By layering geometric lines of embroidery with the spreading, diffusing, and shifting movements of sumi ink, she explores invisible structures, cycles, and quiet forms of order underlying nature and life.

    Observation of the natural world forms an important basis for this exploration. Through studying the branching of trees, the veins of leaves, recurring patterns in plants, and crystalline structures in minerals, GOTO became interested in their affinities with geometric structures found in Art Deco and mandalas. By considering both the underlying order of nature and geometric forms that have appeared across different cultures and periods, she came to see geometry as a visual language through which the unseen forces of life might be explored.

    In recent years, she has also developed an interest in cymatics—the phenomenon in which sound vibrations generate geometric patterns. Although sound itself is invisible, its vibrations can give visible form to matter. This phenomenon further informs her understanding of geometry as a language through which the unseen forces at work in the world can be perceived.

    Whenever possible, GOTO works with materials that remain close to their natural origins, including organic cotton, natural silk threads, sumi ink, mineral pigments, and gold and silver leaf. Layering these materials within a palette centered on black, white, gold, silver, and vermilion, she creates surfaces in which thread and ink quietly interact.

    For GOTO, “Geometric Embroidery + Sumi Ink Art” is not simply a technique for creating forms. It is a way of observing the subtle connections underlying nature, life, time, light, and sound—and of giving form to traces of what cannot be seen.

    蜘蛛の巣は、古くより吉祥の象徴として日本文化に親しまれてきました。しかし、当スタジオは同時に、それを“創造の象徴”として捉えています。古代ギリシャの織り手アラクネは、神の領域に触れたことで罰を受け、蜘蛛へと姿を変えました。その物語は、創造者が抱える宿命――無から形を生み出す歓びと、終わりなき探求の痛み――を象徴しています。

    The spider’s web has long been cherished in Japanese cultureas a symbol of good fortune and auspicious connection.Yet, our studio also sees it as a symbol of creation itself.In ancient Greek mythology, the weaver Arachne was punishedfor touching the divine realm of creation,transformed into a spider as both penance and transcendence.Her story embodies the destiny of all creators—the joy of bringing form out of nothingness,and the eternal pain of seeking perfection that can never be reached.The spider weaves at the center of silence;its web is a visible prayer, a geometry of the unseen.

    Like the dream of Arachne,our studio continues to spin threads of creationbetween light and shadow, silence and form.
